COVID-19 Update - July 24

Published on July 24, 2020

Happy Friday!

Our region reported 53 new cases of COVID-19 today. This means that we have the highest rate of COVID-19 in the province. Out of the 53 cases, 43 are from the agri-farm sector, 5 are from community transmission, and 5 are under investigation. Windsor-Essex’s new total of COVID-19 cases is 2,124 in which 1,365 have been resolved. While the cases are predominantly in Windsor, Kingsville, and Leamington, we should all remain vigilant in following public health guidelines to help stop the spread.

The province sent an Emergency Medical Assistance Team to Leamington and Kingsville to help contain COVID-19 outbreaks in the agri-farm sector.

Unfortunately, a daycare centre in Leamington confirmed that a toddler who visited their facility tested positive for COVID-19.

The Premier has also indicated that Windsor-Essex, Peel, and Toronto will have to wait until this upcoming Wednesday to find out if these regions will be able to advance to Stage 3.

Tomorrow is the day for the Big Spend Campaign. This is a country wide campaign that promotes shopping locally. For more information, here is the link:

Be safe this weekend. Please continue physical distancing, wear your mask in public, and wash your hands frequently.
