COVID-19 Update - August 17

Published on August 17, 2020

Good afternoon,

The Windsor Essex County Health Unit is reporting six cases of COVID-19 today. Of the new cases, three are considered community spread, two are in the agri-farm sector and one is a resident in a retirement home. Our region now has 2,424 confirmed cases, 2,251 cases resolved and 71 deaths.

The Town of Tecumseh is now joining Windsor, Lakeshore and Leamington with instituting its own stronger mask bylaw. The new bylaw states that a person not wearing a mask can be denied entry to an indoor municipal facility, but does not apply to outdoor spaces.

The Greater Essex County District School Board has extended the deadline until Friday August 21 for their attendance confirmation survey due to technical difficulties in getting the survey out. The school board is asking for patience as the surveys are still being delivered to parents and guardians via email.

Please continue to practice social distancing, wear a mask or face covering when out in public, and wash your hands often.
